About Khedrup Foundation
The Khedrup Foundation was officially established on October 6, 2017, and certified by the Government of Bhutan through the Commission for Religious Organizations. Its inception stemmed from the need to ensure sustainable support for the Monastery in Trongsa, which was founded in 2009.
In the early years, financial challenges made it difficult to maintain the Monastery’s operations and uphold its mission to preserve the Buddha Dharma and its lineage. Recognizing this need, KR and a group of committed individuals envisioned creating an organization to provide long-term support. However, progress was delayed as KR was still pursuing studies, and it wasn’t until 2016 that efforts resumed.
The group’s dedication culminated in the formal establishment of the Khedrup Foundation in 2017. At that time, a small group of monks resided in the monastery, and the Foundation was created to ensure the sustainability of their teachings, projects, and the lineage they represent. Today, the Foundation continues to play a vital role in preserving and promoting Buddhist values and practices through its various projects and initiatives.
